Alanis Morissette is unschooling her children and she described the homeschooling method during an interview with James Corden for The Late Show with James Corden. James had asked the 46-year-old mother of three how she is handling homeschooling during the Coronavirus pandemic. Alanis (who celebrated her birthday on June 1) explained that her family was already practicing the unschooling methods and there hasn’t been much of a change within their family structure.

Alanis explained that her family unschools by following their children’s natural curiosity and by encouraging their interests. She also said that learning isn’t conducted during a set amount of hours per day, but it is a way of life for her family. Alanis Morissette is married to hip-hop singer Souleye (real name Mario Treadway) and the couple has three children: Ever (8), Onyx (2), and Winter (10-months). The children have Alanis’ last name in the hyphenated form Morissette-Treadway.

Alanis has a very down-to-earth approach to parenting and she frequently shares photos and videos of herself with her children and husband on her social media accounts.
