On tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Michelle Chambers was alive. It came as a surprise to those that loved her. She was once a colleague of Robyn McCall. They worked together in the CIA. They were even friends until the CIA changed their agreement with the Venezuelan freedom fighters.

The freedom fighters were fighting oppression in their own country. The CIA initially agreed to help them. They were going to supply them weapons and men and training.

Which all changed in a blink of an eye. The CIA went back on their word and they pulled out of the country leaving many to die. This included their own people. Michelle and another colleague were left behind. Michelle had to watch her friend burn to death. She never forgot that and that’s why she ultimately chose to betray her country. And get revenge.

Only Michelle was blinded by revenge. She was consumed by hatred for the CIA. Her once friends. She targeted Robyn because Robyn had written her off for dead and had stopped looking for her.

She abducted Robyn because she wanted Robyn to watch her loved ones burn to death. She was so busy doing that she failed to notice another former colleague coming to the rescue. His name was Briggs. Robyn trained him. He owes her everything and he came to the rescue. Michelle ran off before the job was done with Robyn to evade capture.

Briggs showing up served as a great distraction. Robyn was able to fight off her captors. She went running to her friends and she saved them from being burnt alive.

Afterwards, they rushed Colton Fisk to the hospital. They also got sent to a CIA black site where they were questioned. Director Diana Greene was claiming that the freedom fighters were enemy of the state and that Michelle was dead. She wouldn’t say anything differently. She wouldn’t discuss Venezuela. She said the CIA was never there. They never made any agreements and she was sticking to the party line.

Director Greene also mentioned that the freedom fighters wanted to go after everyone. Everyone that was involved in the CIA’s change of mind. This included those people’s families. Robyn became so worried that she asked Briggs to watch her family with Bishop’s Security team.

She thought her family was in danger, but that still didn’t change her mind about Michelle. She wanted Michelle to come in peacefully. She didn’t want anyone else to be harmed. She had to sell it to her friends. They weren’t all that forgiving sort after they almost died and so she told them she owes Michelle.

They were sisters once. Michelle saved Robyn’s life with a yakuza boss. If Robyn had known that Michelle was still alive, she would have gone back to rescue her. She wouldn’t have left her for dead. She needed Michelle to know that. Robyn started looking for her and she remembered something. She remembered they along with their friends had all promised to be there for the families of the fallen. Robyn knew Michelle would go see the late Ed Lee’s father. And she wasn’t wrong because that’s exactly where she found Michelle.

Robyn tried to talk Michelle down from whatever comes next. Only that’s when snipers started shooting at them. There was no order to bring in Michelle or question her. There was an order to kill her on site. To pretend that Michelle’s been dead for years. Like they initially reported.

Its why the CIA was sticking to the party line and so Robyn helped Michelle take out the snipers. She tried to talk to Michelle in the aftermath only Michelle was gone by then. Robyn next tried to reason with Director Greene.

Robyn tried to convince the director to let her bring in Michelle without violence. Director Greene refused to listen and she had apparently lied earlier. Neither Michelle nor the freedom fighters were looking to take out families of CIA officers. They tortured Fisk for information because they wanted to know the man who signed the order to withdraw the CIA from Venezuela.

It was revealed to be Secretary of State Donald Leeland. He was a congressman when he signed the withdrawal. He did it because he had investments in Venezuela and he was worried tearing down the regime would destroy his property value.

Fisk warned Robyn about it while he was in the hospital. He couldn’t reveal much, but he didn’t have to. Robyn had Harry check his computer. The same one that Fisk used and the one that records everything. Fisk’s files showed that Leeland wasn’t done with Venezuela.

He was in the middle of an agreement with the Venezuelan President that would offer them arms and men. Enough to finish off the freedom fighters forever. This was why they targeted the United States now. They needed to stop the real monsters before what little of them remains gets killed off.

Its why they dedicated everything to getting to the United States. Its why Michelle never even thought about going after Robyn’s family. She was trying to protect the people that kept her alive. Robyn understood that and she tried to warn Leeland that Michelle was coming after him.

He refused to believe at first that Michelle was still alive. He said he read the briefings. Michelle was dead. Robyn said she wrote those briefings and that they were wrong. She and Mel kidnapped Leeland. They tried to keep him safe when Michelle came for him.

Michelle flipped their car. Robyn got out and she and Michelle fought with the same swords they once stole to rescue themselves. Robyn was able to defeat Michelle.

She had the chance to kill her and she didn’t take it out. She instead used that time to knock out Michelle. Then backup arrived. Michelle will be questioned. Leeland lives to fight another day. But The Venezuelan deal was dead. Fisk was out of the hospital and he cashed in one of his chips with those in power. The freedom fighters will return to their homeland to fight another day.

Delilah meanwhile was thinking about applying to military school after high school. She really bonded with Briggs. She wants to see the world one day. And to do some good.

Harry also used satellite footage to clear Detective Dante of pushing Lo-Lo off the roof. He got job back.

And the episode ended with Michelle breaking out of CIA custody.
